BRP Goes All-In on Powersports: What You Need to Know About Their Big Marine Sell-Off

In a strategic shift BRP Marine Sell Off aimed at strengthening its leadership in the Powersports industry, BRP Inc. (TSX: DOO; NASDAQ: DOOO) has announced the initiation of a sale process for its Marine businesses, including iconic brands such as Alumacraft, Manitou, and Telwater. This move reflects BRP’s decision to concentrate its resources and investments on its Powersports Year-Round and Seasonal Products and its Parts, Accessories, Apparel, and OEM Engine businesses.

The sale will not impact BRP’s Sea-Doo personal watercraft, Sea-Doo Switch pontoons, or jet propulsion systems, which remain integral to the company’s product offerings.

Why BRP Is Making This Move

José Boisjoli, President and CEO of BRP, explained that the decision was made in response to the challenging economic environment and evolving market dynamics in the Marine and powersports industries. The company has already made significant investments in Marine product development and facility upgrades but sees greater long-term potential in doubling down on its core powersports business.

“After careful consideration, we believe that this decision allows us to refocus on our strength in Powersports while giving a new owner the opportunity to grow these Marine brands,” said Boisjoli. He emphasized that this strategic shift will enhance BRP’s position as a leading global Powersports OEM, positioning the company for sustainable growth.

What This Means for BRP

The sale process is expected to be completed by the first quarter of BRP’s Fiscal Year 2026. In the meantime, the company does not expect any significant impact on its current Fiscal Year 2025 guidance. BRP has hired National Bank Financial Inc. to facilitate the sale.

BRP’s decision to divest its Marine businesses signals a renewed focus on key product lines such as Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles, Can-Am on—and off-road vehicles, and the Rotax engine business. By concentrating on its core markets, BRP aims to capitalize on emerging growth opportunities and improve profitability across its powersports segments.

BRP’s Path Forward

BRP’s commitment to innovation and delivering cutting-edge Powersports experiences remains unwavering. With plans to further invest in electric models across its existing product lines, BRP continues to evolve, setting the stage for even more thrilling adventures for Powersports enthusiasts.

The company’s long-term vision, centered on expanding its Powersports portfolio, underscores BRP’s goal to maintain its leadership position in the global market. As it pivots from its Marine businesses, BRP is well-positioned to enhance its presence in the Powersports world while ensuring long-term success.
