2027 Polaris RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar Arrives Early With New Colors and Prices

Polaris is getting an early start on the 2027 model year by opening dealer orders and beginning shipments of the 2027 RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar Premium and Ultimate.

The machines are arriving before Polaris formally introduces its complete 2027 off-road lineup in early August. Until then, Polaris says the new NorthStar models will not be promoted on its consumer website, social media channels, or other consumer-facing marketing channels.

That makes this an unusually quiet launch for one of the company’s most recognizable premium utility side-by-sides.

The biggest confirmed news so far is the addition of two colors, a full range of three- and six-passenger models, and pricing that stretches from $29,999 to $37,799 before freight, dealer fees, taxes, and registration.

According to a July 22 dealer communication reviewed by SXS Nation, strong demand for enclosed NorthStar models convinced Polaris to release the machines ahead of the broader 2027 lineup.

Dealers can begin ordering the new models immediately, and shipments officially began July 22.

Remaining 2026 NorthStar Premium and Ultimate orders that Polaris cannot fulfill may be converted to an equivalent 2027 model. That means some buyers who originally ordered a 2026 machine could eventually receive a 2027 instead.

Polaris dealers should start seeing those conversions reflected in their ordering systems immediately.

2027 Polaris RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar Pricing

The 2027 lineup includes Premium and Ultimate trims in both the three-passenger RANGER XP 1000 and six-passenger RANGER CREW XP 1000.

Discounted 2026 NorthStar

Pricing varies by trim and color.

The least expensive model is the three-seat NorthStar Premium in Stealth Gray or Havasu Red Pearl at $29,999.

At the opposite end, the six-seat NorthStar Ultimate in Polaris Pursuit Camo carries a $37,799 MSRP.

The starting price of the 2027 three-seat Premium remains equal to the outgoing 2026 NorthStar lineup’s advertised $29,999 starting MSRP.

Freight Pushes the Real Price Higher

The MSRP is only part of the price buyers will see.

Polaris lists the following updated freight charges for NorthStar and cab models shipped on or after August 3, 2026:

• RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar: $1,595
• RANGER CREW XP 1000 NorthStar: $1,795

That puts a Stealth Gray three-seat Premium at $31,594 after the listed freight charge but before dealer setup, tax, title, registration, accessories, or financing costs.

A Polaris Pursuit Camo Crew Ultimate reaches $39,594 with freight before the rest of the out-the-door expenses are added.

In other words, a well-equipped NorthStar can cross the $40,000 line quickly once dealer charges, taxes, accessories, and financing are included.

Two New NorthStar Colors for 2027

Polaris specifically identifies two new colors for the 2027 model year:

Havasu Red Pearl

Havasu Red Pearl is offered at the base price on every Premium and Ultimate configuration. That gives buyers a brighter color without paying the $400 paint premium attached to Army Green and Blue Labyrinth.

Army Green

Army Green costs $400 more than Stealth Gray or Havasu Red Pearl. It should fit naturally with the NorthStar’s customer base, especially hunters, landowners, farmers, and riders who prefer a more subdued utility-focused appearance.

Stealth Gray, Blue Labyrinth, and Polaris Pursuit Camo round out the five available choices.

Pursuit Camo remains the most expensive option, adding $800 over the base-color price.

Has Polaris Changed the Machine for 2027?

That is the biggest unanswered question.

The dealer communication focuses on prices, colors, ordering, and shipment timing. It does not identify any engine, suspension, cab, drivetrain, technology, or equipment changes for 2027.

Polaris also has not yet published public 2027 specification pages for these models. Until the complete lineup is revealed in August, buyers should not assume that every 2026 specification or feature carries over unchanged.

For context, the outgoing 2026 RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar uses a 999cc twin-cylinder engine rated at 82 horsepower. Polaris lists 14 inches of ground clearance, a 1,000-pound cargo-box capacity, and a 2,500-pound towing capacity.

The 2026 Premium includes the enclosed cab, heat and air conditioning, powered front windows, a tip-out windshield, 29-inch Pro Armor X Terrain tires, and a factory-installed 4,500-pound winch.

Moving to the outgoing Ultimate trim adds a seven-inch RIDE COMMAND display, JBL Trail Pro 2000 audio, and a factory rear camera.

Those features provide a reasonable picture of what the NorthStar name currently represents, but final 2027 specifications need to come directly from Polaris when the public launch happens.

Premium or Ultimate: Is the Upgrade Worth It?

Based on the announced prices, the upgrade from Premium to Ultimate costs $3,800, regardless of cab length or color.

For that money, buyers will likely be looking for the technology and convenience equipment traditionally associated with the Ultimate trim—especially RIDE COMMAND, integrated audio, and a rear camera.

The Premium may remain the better value for owners primarily using the machine for plowing, hunting, property maintenance, farm work, or winter transportation.

The Ultimate makes more sense for buyers who spend long days in the cab, use trail mapping regularly, or would otherwise add an aftermarket display, stereo, and camera system.

The final decision should wait until Polaris releases the complete 2027 equipment lists. A familiar trim name does not guarantee that every individual feature remains identical.

Why the Early Release Matters

Polaris says the decision was driven by continued strong consumer demand for NorthStar products.

That is not difficult to understand. Factory-enclosed machines with heat and air conditioning have moved well beyond being specialty winter vehicles. Owners are using them for year-round trail riding, hunting, farming, property work, snow removal, and transportation in hot, dusty conditions.

Polaris has also made NorthStar one of the most recognizable names in the enclosed-cab UTV category. The outgoing model combines climate control with the capability expected from a full-size RANGER, rather than treating the cab as a collection of aftermarket accessories.

Releasing the machines early gives dealers a chance to build inventory before fall hunting seasons, cooler weather, and the winter snow-removal buying cycle.

It may also help Polaris convert customers who are already waiting for 2026 machines that cannot be fulfilled.

This does not appear to be a ground-up NorthStar redesign—at least not based on what Polaris has disclosed so far.

Right now, the story is an early model-year transition with two new colors, immediate dealer shipments, and pricing that holds the entry-level three-seat Premium at $29,999.

That price stability is good news, but buyers need to look beyond MSRP. Freight alone pushes the least expensive model past $31,500, and the most expensive Crew Ultimate approaches $40,000 before dealer fees and taxes.

The other reason to wait for the full August announcement is simple: Polaris has not yet told consumers whether anything meaningful changed underneath the new paint.

Anyone considering a discounted 2026 NorthStar should compare it carefully against the incoming 2027 model. If the equipment and mechanical package remain substantially the same, an outgoing machine with dealer incentives could be the stronger deal.

If Polaris has added meaningful upgrades that were not included in the dealer notice, that calculation could change quickly.

For now, dealers can order the 2027 RANGER XP 1000 NorthStar Premium and Ultimate, and shipments are already underway. The full consumer-facing announcement is expected alongside the rest of the 2027 Polaris off-road lineup in early August.
