Polaris PG&A Shakeup? Dealer Letter Says Kolpin and Premier Are Headed for Management Buyout

Polaris may be making another major move to reshape its powersports portfolio.

A dealer communication reviewed by SXS Nation says Polaris PG&A has made the strategic decision to sell Kolpin and Premier, including the Premier manufacturing facility in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, through a management-led buyout that would create a new independent company.

Polaris has not publicly issued a press release naming Kolpin or Premier in connection with a sale. However, the timing and language of the dealer communication line up closely with Polaris’ latest public financial filings. In its Q1 2026 10-Q, Polaris stated that “certain other PG&A assets” met the criteria to be classified as held for sale as of March 31, 2026. Polaris also said it recorded $18.2 million in charges related to that disposal group, with fair value measured using an executed letter of intent.

That does not publicly confirm Kolpin and Premier by name, but it does show that Polaris is actively working through a PG&A-related asset transaction.

What the Dealer Communication Says

According to the dealer email, the transaction is specific to Kolpin and Premier. The communication says ownership would transition to leaders familiar with the brands, the market, and the customers they serve. It also says the move is designed to support continuity of operations while Kolpin and Premier transition toward operating independently.

The email states that Apex Product Group will continue to operate as the transactional entity during the transition period. That matters because Apex has long been the umbrella structure dealers use for brands like Kolpin, Pro Armor, and Trail Tech.

Polaris’ 2025 annual report describes Kolpin, Pro Armor, Klim, 509, and Trail Tech as part of the company’s PG&A portfolio. It also says Kolpin, Pro Armor, and Trail Tech are marketed through Apex Product Group, which Polaris describes as a unified sales, customer service, distribution, and vertically integrated manufacturing organization.

According to the dealer communication, Trail Tech and Pro Armor are not part of this transaction.

Why Kolpin Matters to UTV and ATV Riders

Kolpin is not just another accessory label. The brand has been a familiar name in the ATV, UTV, hunting, ranching, and outdoor markets for decades.

Polaris acquired Kolpin Outdoors in 2014, describing it at the time as a privately held company that developed branded and private-label powersports accessories. Polaris said the acquisition added Kolpin to its growing PG&A business, and that Kolpin products would continue to be sold under the Kolpin and Cycle Country brands, with private-label products available through Premier O.E.M.

For the side-by-side market, Kolpin has been especially relevant. Powersports Business reported in 2017 that approximately 70 percent of Kolpin’s 2017–18 catalog supported UTVs. The same report listed UTV-focused products such as plows, Rhino Grips, gun boots, windshields, winches, and mirrors as key parts of the Kolpin lineup.

That makes this more than a behind-the-scenes corporate move. Kolpin has a real footprint with dealers and riders who buy accessories for work, hunting, trail riding, winter plowing, and utility use.

Where Premier Fits In

Premier may be less familiar to everyday riders because it is not a consumer-facing accessory brand like Kolpin. But Premier appears to play an important role in manufacturing and private-label.

Premier’s own website describes the company as focused on product design, development, and manufacturing, with three decades of experience and a background in rotational molding.

The connection between Kolpin and Premier goes back years. In 2009, Powersports Business reported that Kolpin Outdoors signed an agreement to acquire part of Premier’s non-OEM product line, including products for machines such as the Yamaha Rhino, Kawasaki Teryx, Kubota RTV 900, and Polaris Ranger. Those products included roofs, consoles, storage and cooler boxes, windshields, and other ATV/UTV-related accessories.

When Polaris acquired Kolpin in 2014, the announcement specifically referenced Premier O.E.M. as the private-label side of the business.

Part of a Bigger Polaris Portfolio Shift?

This possible Kolpin and Premier transaction comes shortly after another major Polaris divestiture.

On February 2, 2026, Polaris announced it had completed the separation of Indian Motorcycle into a standalone business and sold a majority stake to Carolwood LP. Polaris CEO Mike Speetzen said that separating Indian Motorcycle would allow Polaris to sharpen its strategic and operating focus on its core growth businesses.

In its Q1 2026 earnings release, Polaris reported worldwide sales of $1.659 billion, up eight percent compared with the first quarter of 2025. Polaris Powersports sales were up 14 percent, and PG&A sales within the Polaris Powersports segment also increased 14 percent.

So this is not necessarily a sign that Polaris’ PG&A business is weak. In fact, the company reported growth in PG&A. The bigger picture appears to be portfolio focus: Polaris is moving certain businesses or assets outside the company while continuing to focus on core powersports platforms, dealers, and profitability.

What Dealers Should Watch

For dealers, the most important part of the communication is order continuity.

The dealer email says business should continue as usual during the transition period, but it also warns that Kolpin open orders will continue to be fulfilled through the close of the transaction, and that any Kolpin open orders that cannot be fulfilled by closing may be canceled.

That means dealers may want to review active Kolpin orders, backorders, customer deposits, and any special-order accessories tied to future deliveries.

According to the dealer communication, Kolpin items no longer offered in the Polaris portfolio may still be available for ordering through Kolpin customer service. Kolpin’s public customer service page lists customer support at 877-956-5746, which aligns with the contact information referenced in the dealer notice.

The SXS Nation Takeaway

At this point, the responsible way to report this story is clear: a dealer communication reviewed by SXS Nation indicates that Kolpin and Premier are moving toward a management-led buyout, while Polaris’ public SEC filings confirm that certain PG&A assets are classified as held for sale and are tied to an executed letter of intent.

Polaris has not publicly named Kolpin or Premier in a press release tied to this transaction, and the buyer group, closing date, transaction value, and new company name have not been publicly confirmed.

Still, if the dealer communication is accurate, this could mark a major shift for one of the best-known accessory names in the ATV and UTV space. Kolpin has long served riders, hunters, landowners, ranchers, and dealers with practical accessories built around real-world off-road use. A management-led independent company could give the brand a more focused path forward — while dealers will be watching closely for inventory, order fulfillment, and continuity of support during the transition.

SXS Nation will continue monitoring this story as more details become public.
