Comparing The RZR XP Ultimate And Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000

The 2024 RZR VS KRX comparison looks at the features of two popular off-road vehicles, the 2024 RZR XP Ultimate and Kawasaki Teryx KRX 1000.

For starters, what do you think about the new look for the RZR? I think they look similar. The rear fender area especially. Besides that, the KRX looks a little beefier and sits higher than the RZR. But according to the specs, it’s only .3 inches. Below we will dive into the key features of both machines and see which is best for you.

2024 RZR VS KRX 2 Seat Models

Let’s start with the overall width.

The RZR comes in at 64 inches wide, the overall length is 119 inches, and the wheelbase is 90 inches. This did not change from the previous model.

The KRX comes in at 68.1 inches wide, the overall length is 130.1 inches, and the wheelbase is 98.8 inches.

The big drawback in the category is the overall width of the KRX. Because of the 68-inch wide stance, some states consider it too wide for their trail system. We experienced this firsthand in Wisconsin. At Wisconsin’s 65-inch restriction, you won’t be able to ride it there along with a few other states.

Ground Clearance

The RZR has a ground clearance of 14.5 inches

The KRZ has a ground clearance of 14.8 inches

The KRX has a very slit advantage here.

You never know when you might need that extra .3 inches 🙂

Horsepower

The RZR and its new ProStar engine come in at 114 HP

The KRX is not far behind at 112.6 HP

Here the average person would not know the difference between two identical machines, but it’s going to be obvious in the next category.

Weight

The RZR weights in at 1633 pounds

The KRX weights in at 1896 pounds

This is where you are going to notice the performance difference. With almost identical horsepower, the RZR will feel more agile and outrun the KRX. We ride with some people that have the KRX, and the biggest thing I hear is, “I wish it had more power.” I know a lot of people say that regardless of what they own. I run an RZR XP Pro and have been known to say, “I wish it had more power,” in certain situations.

Suspension Travel

The RZR comes stock with 20.5 inches up front and 20.5 inches in the rear of travel

The KRX comes stock with 18.6 inches up front and 21.1 inches in the rear of travel

I would believe these numbers if they didn’t come directly from the manufacturers. Looking at a picture of them sitting side by side, the KRX sure looks like it would have more travel.

Tires

The RZR comes stock with the Trail Master X/T 2.0, 30 x 10-14 Radial Tire

The KRX comes stock with the MAXXIS Carnivore 31 x 10.00R15 8PR

The tire tread design looks similar. I believe several tire manufacturers are trying to copy the Carnivore as it’s been a very popular tire.

Stock Accessories

The RZR comes with a prity wheel equipt with the following accessories:

  • Front bumper
  • Full doors
  • Full skid plate
  • Tow loop
  • Roof
  • 4 pt harnesses

The KRX only comes stock with the following accessories:

  • Front bumper
  • Full doors

I know a lot of people, including myself, that like to customize their own machines. With all the OEM and aftermarket accessories available for both these machines, your possibilities are endless.

Technology

The RZR comes standard with the following technology:

  • Ride Command
  • Rockford Fosgate audio
  • LED Signature lighting
  • On-demand 2WD/4WD
  • Illuminated interior switches
  • 6-position pulse bar, pre-wired for accessories

The KRX comes standard with the following technology:

  • EBS
  • Kawasaki electronic control suspension
  • Drive modes
  • Live Valve
  • HISONICS audio
  • Winch

Price

RZR XP 1000 ULTIMATE Starting at $25,999 US MSRP

TERYX KRX® 1000 starting at $23,199 US MSRP

In conclusion, the RZR and KRX 2-seat models provide a great option for those looking to purchase an off-road vehicle. The RZR offers more horsepower with its ProStar engine, is lighter in weight than the KRX, and comes standard with numerous technology features such as Ride Command, Rockford Fosgate audio, LED Signature Lighting, and On-demand 2WD/4WD. Meanwhile, the KRX has a wider stance that may be restricted by certain states, but it also provides greater ground clearance of .3 inches over the RZR as well as EBS technology. With both machines offering plenty of OEM accessories plus aftermarket options available, you can customize your machine to fit any budget or style preference, making either one a great choice for anyone who loves hitting trails!
